Appraiser’s Qualifications
Robert E. Mathews, MS, MCMEA, CSBA
Robert E. Mathews works with the owners of closely held corporations, especially family owned businesses. Over the last 40 years Mr. Mathews has distinguished himself as a successful leader and executive in large governmental and not-for-profit organizations and as an entrepreneur and consultant in small companies and private practice.
In 1996, as an independent contractor, Mr. Mathews affiliated with Appraisal Resources, Inc, the largest appraisal firm in upstate New York and L. P. Grasso & Company, Inc., a prominent mergers and acquisition firm with more than 30 years experience. He was subsequently appointed to direct business, machinery and equipment valuation activities for the Companies, a position he held until 2010.
Mr. Mathews completed training as a Machinery and Equipment appraiser in 2000. He was awarded the designation of Certified Machinery and Equipment Appraiser, CMEA, in December 2002 by the National Equipment and Business Builders (NEBB) Institute, Wichita Kansas, an international organization with 400 members worldwide. He is a member of the Institute and was named to their Board of Advisors in 2004. In 2006 The Institute awarded him their Certificate of Appreciation for his contributions to the field. In 2011, Mr. Mathews was one of fifteen Institute members to complete training and certification as a Master Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser.
CMEAs are located throughout the United States and several foreign countries, and are used by banks, other lending institutions, CPAs, Attorneys, business buyers/sellers and others to provide needed financial information for a variety of reasons.
Mr. Mathews holds the professional credential of Senior Business Analyst, SBA, and MEA, Machinery and Equipment Appraiser with the Society of Business Analysts, Houston, Texas, earned in 2001. In 2003, he was appointed a member of the Board of Advisors of The Society of Business Analysts. In 2008 he completed the requirements for and was designates as a Certified Senior Business Analyst.
Mr. Mathews holds an undergraduate degree from Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY and a Master's Degree from the University at Albany, Albany, NY.
Continuing Education and Compliance - Mr. Mathews has complied with the requirements of the certifying organizations of which he is a member and has completed recertification and/or continuing education requirements.
Peer Review - Machinery and Equipment appraisals completed by Mr. Mathews are subject to peer review by The NEBB Institute.
